Tickets, tent poles, glitter… there’s a lot to remember when attending a festival. Snapchat and Live Nation wanted to make things easier. An interactive sitemap, live set times and ways to show off your view from the mainstage - all within one Snap lens. For Summer 2023, plai developed a custom experience for both Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, two of the largest and most beloved festivals in the US. Each experience included: A 3D, animated map of the festival. On launching the experience, the festgoer’s bitmoji appears on the map, so they can see exactly where they are on site. Friend FindAR - Bitmoji of the user’s friends on Snap also appear on the map - Steve’s at the hot dog stand and Rachel’s at the acoustic tent? Use the Friend FindAR functionality to see the path straight to them. AR compass - tapping any stage or landmark on the map brings up an arrow in front of you pointing right to it. Just follow the arrow to get to your destination. Tapping on stages also shows your distance to the stage and the live act currently playing. A schedule planner featuring all the artists at the festival - just select your favourite acts to get a customised festival lineup, telling you which stage to be at and when. These launched in advance of the festival, allowing our attendees to share their dream lineup and hype the event weeks before doors opened. A suite of creative expression lenses - custom lenses themed to each festival, featuring wearable AR, landmark AR and magic effects. Party with Roofus, the Bonnaroo mascot, or drench the world in a Lollapalooza themed backdrop. Custom brand experiences - spotlighting the best brand experiential activations on site with custom AR landmarks.
