In 2025, Monzo released The Book of Money - a book to give you the skills, tools and confidence you need to change your relationship with your finances forever. For the book launch, BBH built a custom bookstore in the heart of London where guests could grab a copy of the book on pre release. plai worked with BBH to create the digital interactive experience at the event.
Monzo wanted to gift visitors a custom version of the book, with a bespoke dust jacket that spoke to each guest’s own financial journey and personal interests. BBH created hundreds of unique book titles for the activation. plai developed a custom LLM which was able to categorise each of these titles based on themes in the Book of Money as well as different lifestyle and personality quirks.
At the activation, visitors were invited to answer a personality quiz on custom screens stylised like ATM machines. plai’s custom AI integration then paired each guest’s answers with one of the custom book titles. This created a personalised experience in which each guest received a book cover which was hyper specific to them, as if by magic. The final output (our unique book titles) were still written by humans - we used AI to enhance creativity, not replace it.
The pop-up was a huge success with queues around the block by midday. It’s exciting to see how experiential and gifting activations can be enhanced with emerging technologies.
